COVEBOARD
I designed, branded, and shipped my own AI-integrated pre-production and editing software, live at coveboard.com. I got tired of a pre-production pipeline with no cohesion, files in one place, boards in another, hopping between programs all day. I live in art direction, so I built my own. An infinite canvas that carries an idea from first reference to first cut. The same art direction discipline as a brand campaign, applied to a product I use every day.
Coveboard is the project where every skill on this site converges: product design, brand identity, interface systems, AI pipeline integration, and the taste to hold them together. It is AI-integrated pre-production and editing software, an infinite canvas where references, generation, storyboards, animatics, and the editor handoff live in one place. I designed it, built it, named it, branded it, priced it, and shipped it, and it takes real money at coveboard.com.
It started as a tool I built for my own campaign work and earned its way into everything I make: the animatics across this portfolio are cut in it. For a hiring team, this is the clearest possible answer to what does AI-fluent art direction look like: when the workflow I needed did not exist, I designed the product that closes the loop, from first scribble to first cut.
Art direction, end to end
Directing a product like a campaign
Every discipline on this site shows up here: research, wide exploration, one kept direction, a written system, and a shipped finish. The deliverable just happens to be software.
The problem
Every AI tool stops at the generation
Pre-production lives scattered across a dozen tools: references in folders, boards in one app, generation in another, timing in an edit suite. Most AI tools hand you a chat log and stop the moment something is generated. I wanted one canvas that carries the whole idea, gather references, board the shots, draw on them, time them, and hand an editor a cut. Nobody closed that loop, so I built the tool that does.
Identity
A cove for ideas
The name comes from the infinity cove, the seamless studio backdrop where anything can be shot. The mark is a violet C-shaped cove sheltering a single dot: the idea, held. One typeface, Inter, working from interface weights to headlines, and a near-black surface that lets the work on the canvas carry the color.
Design R&D
Eight directions for the canvas. One kept.
The board language went through eight fully designed directions, from quiet studio neutrals to glass to gradient. The gradient-canvas direction won and went through a second round to become the shipped system: gradient outlines that trace a selected card, color that answers selection, and board chrome that belongs to the board instead of floating over it. The app shell then ran its own three-dialect study; the gradient-frame dialect carried the language into the generate bar, the modals, and the model browser.
The system
Color that means something
The design system runs on one rule: color answers a question before you ask it. Selection color equals media type, solid violet for stills, a sunset gradient for video, a signal gradient for audio, because solid means still and gradient means time-based. Note types carry their own colors across every board. Each of the five workspaces holds its own accent. Nothing is decorated; everything is labeled by its light.
The product
Board. Media. Cut. Edit. Deliver.
Five workspaces on one canvas. Board is the infinite surface where references, generations, drawings, and storyboards live together. Media is the asset library. Cut plays your boards like an edit. Edit is a layered timeline. Deliver renders the handoff. One prompt bar reaches 170+ AI models with live per-generation prices in real dollars, and Cove, the assistant woven into everything, reads the board, writes prompts, recommends models, and plans batches.
The handoff
It ends where the editor begins
Deliver produces an edit bundle: panels as files, the audio, and a timeline that Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve open as a pre-cut sequence in shot order. The proof it works is all over this site: every animatic in my case studies was cut in Coveboard, on the same boards you see in each project.

Shipped
Live, priced in real dollars
Coveboard is live at coveboard.com and as a signed desktop app for Mac and Windows, with subscriptions through my company Cintrova. Three plans, plain dollars, no credit math: the pricing page says what a generation costs before you commit, because I banned the word credits from the entire product. Designed, built, branded, launched, and maintained by one person.
